Data centers are increasingly powerful, especially with the explosion of Artificial Intelligence 🧠, and this means they produce more heat than ever! 🔥 Therefore, the industry is adopting increasingly smart and efficient cooling solutions.
These are some of the most important trends:
• Liquid Cooling (Liquid Cooling) 💧 is gaining ground. It is much more efficient than air, especially for high-density equipment. There are two main types:
◦ Direct-to-chip: Heat is transferred directly from the components using special liquids.
◦ Immersion: Servers are completely submerged in a non-conductive liquid, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 50% compared to traditional air cooling!
• Evaporative (Adiabatic) Cooling 🌿: It uses water evaporation to cool the air, acting as a “green refrigerant”. There are direct, indirect, and two-stage systems, each with its advantages.
• Artificial Intelligence to Optimize Climate 🤖: AI algorithms can predict and adjust cooling in real time, identifying inefficiencies and problems before they occur. This reduces energy waste and ensures the best performance.
• Higher Target Temperatures 🌡️: One trend is to allow data centers to operate at slightly higher temperatures (for example, around 22-23°C). This does not affect performance, but it does generate major energy savings in cooling.
