1970-1990: the entry into precision cooling
In the early 1970s, Stulz identified a clear opportunity: the emerging market of computer rooms and the first commercial data centers. Mainframe computers generated heat densities that conventional HVAC systems could not reliably handle. The company adapted its technology and launched the CyberAir line.
The CyberAir line — the brand’s flagship product — was developed during this era and has evolved continuously ever since. Stulz became one of the reference brands in Europe for precision cooling, competing with American Power Conversion (APC) and Liebert in the global market.
1990-2010: the global expansion
During the 1990s and 2000s, Stulz expanded its presence across the Americas, Asia, and Oceania through a network of subsidiaries and specialized partners. The brand positioned itself as the premium European option for data centers, hospitals, museums, and industrial-process applications where temperature and humidity precision are critical.
The brand’s philosophy during this stage was NOT to keep manufacturing concentrated in Hamburg, as is sometimes stated. The actual strategy was to build a global network of mirror plants that replicated the German standards, but with regional manufacturing to serve each market better. The plants in Brazil (Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo) and the United States (Frederick, Maryland) are the main nodes of that network in the Americas.
2010-2026: the era of efficiency and sustainability
Over the last decade, Stulz has invested in evolving its portfolio toward free cooling, low-GWP refrigerants, and modular architectures that adapt to the new realities of data centers: higher density per rack, BMS integration, and PUE optimization.
The CyberAir line has evolved into CyberAir 3, with expanded options for direct expansion, chilled water, free cooling, and N+1 redundant configurations. Stulz has also developed precision chillers and air handlers (CyberHandler) for larger and modular data centers.
The mother-plant + mirror-plants model
Stulz’s manufacturing structure is based on a mixed model: a mother plant in Hamburg that serves as the engineering, product development, and quality-reference center, complemented by regional mirror plants that manufacture according to the German standards.

- Global consistency: units produced in Hamburg, Sorocaba, or Frederick meet the same design and quality standards. Variability between plants is controlled through process audits and cross-validation.
- Traceability: any part or module can be traced back to the original production batch, regardless of the plant of origin.

Stulz operates in Mexico through a network of specialized distributors and integrators, with certified technicians for commissioning, maintenance, and repairs. The brand has growing presence in data centers of the financial, telecom, and manufacturing sectors.
Technical support is coordinated between the regional subsidiaries (Brazil, United States) and Hamburg. For specialized technical training, partners in the region can access training programs in Hamburg or in the regional centers.
The service network covers CDMX, Monterrey, and Guadalajara with competitive response times. For critical parts, the Sorocaba and Frederick plants serve as regional supply hubs.
